Ferry sinks in Nile, at least 12 killed


Twelve people have been confirmed killed after ferry carrying at least 20 people sank in the River Nile in the Warraq area in Giza, Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar told Ahram Arabic Website late Wednesday.

Another two have been found injured and search for missing passengers is still ongoing.
Sixteen ambulances and two rescue boats have been dispatched to the site of the accident, according to Abdel-Ghaffar.  

Similar boat accidents have occurred in Egypt over the past years, especially during Eid holidays.
